Harshvardhan to learn Makgic Burat for Bhavesh Joshi
Harshvardhan Kapoor, who has wowed everyone with his attention to detail and the ability to get under the skin of his character quite well in Mirzya, will now train in Makgic Burat for his role in Vikramaditya Motwane's next - Bhavesh Joshi.
The newest Kapoor on the block had trained in horse riding, polo and archery for his debut film - Mirzya. For his second Bollywood outing, the actor will now learn different taekwondo blocks called Makgic Burat, for a special action sequence. Taekwondo blocks known as Makgi are used to stop and deflect an incoming attack. They engage various parts of the arm with the hand and are held in different positions such as knife-hand, closed fist among others. Each block is suitable for a particular kind of attack and may be combined with another punch or kick to make a counter-attack.
A source adds, "Harsh always goes the extra mile for his roles and enjoys the entire process. He has never had any training or experience in martial arts before and hence, wanted to train in it so that the scene looks as authentic as possible." Sounds interesting already! Who else can't wait to watch it on the big screen?

Vidya to be a graveyard shift RJ in her next
Does Vidya Balan ever fail to surprise us? The national award winning actress, whose Kahaani 2 is all set to release this Friday, will now be seen playing an RJ once again. Albeit this time, it's gonna be the graveyard shift, and not the morning show, for the lovely actress. Ellipsis Entertainment and T-Series have come together to produce a contemporary dra-medy titled Tumhari Sulu, where Balan will play the lead protagonist - Sulochana, fondly known as Sulu.
In the film, Sulu lands herself an unexpected job of a beautiful, fun and feisty RJ who anchors a late-night show, well known for its voyeuristic quality and semi-adult shenanigans. The film will be directed by Suresh Triveni, who has a host of top brand TVCs to his credit, including IPL’s India-Pakistan Mauka Mauka spot, which became a viral sensation. Confirming this news, producer Bhushan Kumar said, “Today the audience is evolved and wants to see real and relatable cinema. Tumhari Sulu is a lovely, heart-warming story tailor made for Vidya and we are proud to produce it with Ellipsis.”
Producers Tanuj Garg, Atul Kasbekar and Shanti Sivaram Maini of Ellipsis gave a joint statement which read, “In line with our vision of backing engaging and entertaining high-concept content, we are delighted to have found this gem of a script, which will make you cheer and laugh in plenty. Sulu is fun, happy-go-lucky and grounded, everything that Vidya (Balan) is even in real life. Suresh Triveni is a debut talent to watch out for and we look forward to our association with T-Series, a market leader in the filmed entertainment space.” When asked about working on his debut Bollywood film, Triveni said, “Tumhari Sulu has been handcrafted for Vidya (Balan) and to have her as a lead in my first feature is an honour. I look forward to seeing the story come alive as I have lived with it for almost a year now. I am delighted to have found great producers, Ellipsis and T-Series, for this incredible journey.”
And finally, when asked what she really loved about her character in the film, Vidya said, “Sulu is like a nimbu. You add nimbu for taste or to balance taste. She is zesty & versatile! I think she will unleash my naughty side.” The cast and crew will start shooting for this fun film in April next year. Well, we can't wait already.

Ranveer and Vaani shine in Befikre's You and Me
You and Me from Befikre was launched at a fun event today and we honestly couldn't take our eyes off Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor's chemistry. During the launch, we got a glimpse of the track, which embodies a common contemporary sentiment among today’s youth- a relationship that has no labels whatsoever. Dharam and Shyra (played by Ranveer and Vaani) build up some serious level of comfort in this one, as they hang out, indulge in some fun, frolic and make the most of their time together.
We hear that shooting for this relaxed, happy song brought in moments of unplanned enjoyment for the cast and crew. Vaani recalls, “I remember we shot around some street side food stalls and had to shoot a portion, where the two of us are eating crepes together. As it was quite cold, we absolutely loved eating them, and kept eating more than we needed to.” There is a particular scene that Ranveer finds hilarious, the one where his co-star is hopping up and down with a plaster cast in a hospital. And so, he was made to give company to his leading lady and hop around with her. Vaani adds, “Ranveer was pulling my leg in this scene, so Adi Sir (Aditya Chopra) told him that he too must shoot with a hopping motion for the song! Now the joke was on him too. Everything that you see in You and Me is a bit like that- unplanned, spontaneous and free of judgements."
The song is out and honestly, we can't get enough of it already. It's a fun number, which is hummable and has got great vocals by Nikhil D'souza and Rachel Verghese. We are loving Vishal & Shekhar's fabulous score for the album anyway. Plus, the lead pair's crackling chemistry and the scenic locales have got us excited already! Befikre is all set to release on December 9.

SRK in ADHM's Channa Mereya is everything
Whoever made this video is a genius!!!
While the entire world is busy celebrating Shah Rukh Khan's birthday (Does he even look 51? I mean, c'mon), we were happily editing posts and working on new features, when we came across something really interesting. A video, posted a few days back by a Facebook page named 'If Acting is Religion, then Shah Rukh Khan is God of this' is busy breaking the internet. And deservingly so. The fan page dedicated to Bollywood's one and only Badshah has some of the actor's best emotional moments from his romantic films, perfectly synced to one of our favourite songs from KJO's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil - Channa Mereya.
Clearly, this video has way too many feels. If Ranbir made you shed a few tears, the SRK fan made version will make you cry. Now, it's difficult to choose who suits this song best. Ranbir or SRK? Well, we can do with both (SRK a little more).

xXx Return of Xander Cage trailer is here, and Deepika Padukone is clearly killing it!
We have a new, kickass international 'Hero' in town and it is none other than the gorgeous Deepika Padukone. Yes, we say 'Hero', because calling her a Heroine would be too mainstream and boring. Go, watch the trailer of her Hollywood debut - xXx: Return of Xander Cage, and you will know what we mean! Earlier today, during the opening episode Bigg Boss 10, Padukone revealed the trailer of her much anticipated international film debut, along with host and actor Salman Khan. This also happens to be the first time that a trailer has been launched on the show. Also, we honestly couldn't take our eyes off Padukone in that gorgeous HM x Balmain outfit (full props to Shaleena Nathani).
Fans across the globe are excited for the third instalment of the popular xXx franchise. The second trailer, that has been specially cut for the Indian audience, has Padukone stealing the show with her glamorous look and fabulous action. What's worth mentioning here is the fact that the actress maintains an Indian accent while speaking in English, which adds some extra charm to the way her character, Serena Unger, speaks. In fact, she doesn't even make it look out of place and adds a great, natural touch. The stunner that she is, Padukone sizzles as Serena and gives us some major fitness goals with her perfectly sculpted body. With this, we have surely got a promising and supremely exciting trailer, that exceeds all our expectations.
Apart from English, Paramount Pictures will also release a Hindi, Tamil and Telugu version of the film. Honestly, we can't wait for January (which also happens to be Padukone's birthday month) to arrive already. xXx: Return of Xander Cage stars Vin Diesel, Donnie Yen, Nina Dobrev, Tony Jaa among others and will release on January January 20, 2017.

Everything you wanted to know about Ranveer Singh's role in Padmavati!
It is a known fact already that SLB's most ambitious film [now that Bajirao Mastani is already made], Padmavati, will go on floors next month. Ranveer Singh, who was the first star to be signed for the film, will essay the role of Alauddin Khilji and inside sources reveal that the actor's character in the magnum opus, is the most important one.
It is for the very first time that the filmmaker is making an “anti-hero” film - which tells the tale of one of Hindustan's greatest Sultan - the sharp, ambitious and larger-than-life Turk, Alauddin Khilji.
Bhansali and Ranveer have shared such a great equation over the years and have even worked together on two blockbuster movies. The filmmaker-actor duo, have always spelled magic at the box office and will now reunite for the third time.
As soon as Ranveer signed the film, the two celebrated with some home cooked Sindhi food, for which the filmmaker had to break his diet for. Ranveer, despite his busy schedule, was also part of all the major festivities at Bhansali's house, including his recent Ganesh Utsav celebrations.
A source adds, "Ranveer Singh essays the role of the larger-than-life Alauddin Khilji in Padmavati. He will be portrayed in the film like never before and has been very excited about it ever since he signed the film. Alauddin Khilji is a character that Sanjay Leela Bhansali has long wanted to bring to life onscreen. Since the two share such a great equation off-screen they can't wait to start work on the movie and have their camaraderie and working chemistry, translate into cinematic magic. Ranveer is excited about the role, which promises to be his career's finest, and is prepping for it in full swing." SLB's Padmavati is scheduled to release December 15, 2017.

Banjo team’s impromptu act surprises director Ravi Jadhav!
Director Ravi Jadhav was pleasantly surprised while shooting for the high-energy dance number 'Raada Raada' from his upcoming musical drama in Hindi, Banjo.
The dance track features Riteish and his group of banjo players, along with Nargis Fakhri. While filming the track, even before Ravi could okay the last shot, he was surprised by an impromptu act by the cast. Riteish, along with his banjo team and Nargis, hugged each other, which was not part of the dance performance. Ravi later learnt that the impromptu group hug was out of sheer enthusiasm and happiness for the song completion. Since the act came out naturally and went very well with the track’s ending, Ravi decided to keep it as part of the song.
Produced by Eros International and directed by Ravi Jadhav, the much awaited Ritesh Deshmukh starrer Banjo releases on 23rd September, 2016.

Sonakshi's Akira packs a punch!
After launching the teaser and an official poster of the film, actress Sonakshi Sinha revealed the official trailer of her upcoming action - drama, Akira. The trailer is powerful and fierce, with Sonakshi making an impact with her strong portrayal of a rebel. The film, directed by A.R Murugadoss (who previously impressed us with Ghajini and Holiday) has girl power written all over it and honestly, we can't wait to watch it on the big screen. After all, it's got Sonakshi kicking some serious ass and we love watching our female actors shining in full glory (girl power for the win, yeah).
In the trailer, we are also introduced to several other characters, including that of Anurag Kashyap and Konkona Sen Sharma, who will be seen playing pivotal roles. The background score sounds pretty good. Produced by Fox Star Studios and A.R Murugadoss, Akira is slated to release on September 2, 2016. Who else can't wait for this one?

Shahid Kapoor's Love For Risks
We love how actor Shahid Kapoor has been getting rave reviews for his performance in the recently released, Udta Punjab. His character, Tommy Singh, with quirky and crazy nuances, has been loved by everyone. Appreciation and accolades for the actor's performance haven't stopped pouring in ever since the film released. If one observes his choice of films, the actor has been fearlessly picking up challenging roles and has never shied away from taking risks. In fact, he confessed the same in our exclusive conversation earlier this month.
Shahid has been really brave with his choice of films. When asked about being a risk taker, Shahid says, "I don't want to be part of something that's already happened. I want to make difficult choices... scary choices. I have always tried to change my looks in most of my films. So, for me, getting in and out of a film takes time. I like it that way."
Shedding the boy-next-door image, the actor stunned everyone with his double role in Kaminey and later, went on to sweep awards with his portrayal of Haider Meet in Vishal Bharadwaj's Haider. And his act in Udta Punjab is no different. One of the many reasons why we are eagerly looking forward to Rangoon.
Shahid just got back from an award function in Spain for a popular award function, where he hosted the awards night with actor Farhan Akhtar. He will soon be taking a much needed break (a paternity leave). But, we can't wait to see the talented actor back in action with Rangoon in February 2017.

Remember this? The first time we saw Amitabh Bachchan & Nawazuddin Siddiqui together!
While most of us can't stop praising Amitabh Bachchan and Nawazzudin Siddiqui's spectacular performances in TE3N and were delighted to watch them together, for what looks like the first time, it ain't so. During our recent conversation with AB senior, the actor confessed that it was Nawaz who informed him about working on two different projects together, way before TE3N happened. "A lot of people don't know, but he did a small part in one of my films titled Shoebite, which hasn't released (directed by Shoojit Sircar). Even back then, I was quite amazed by his talent. I was curious to know who he was and why Shoojit had not given him a bigger role to play," stated AB senior.
During a conversation on the sets of TE3N, it was Nawaz who informed Bachchan that apart from Shoebit, he was a part of an advertisement - the Miss Palampur campaign for Cadbury Diary Milk, which aired almost 8 - 9 years back. Bachchan adds, "I went back, searched it online and was shocked to know that he just had a few close ups." Well sir, so are we! But, old advertisements like these always leave a big smile on our face. Watch it here now.

The Master of Transformation
Shahid Kapoor is known for his dedication and commitment to every character portrayed on screen. Be it Romeo, Haider or JJ; Shahid flawlessly steps into the shoes of his character and becomes one with it. So much, that he does not shy away from experimenting with new hairstyles and looks. If the character requires him to undergo changes in his physique, he does that too. This time, he shocked one and all with his insane transformation as Tommy Singh in the upcoming Udta Punjab. Shahid's look in the trailer, which was launched on April 17, garnered accolades and a lot of praises from critics and fans alike. In fact, even popular Punjabi musicians have been calling the actor non-stop to congratulate him on acing the look and nuances so well.
The actor, who plays a rockstar named Tommy Singh in the drug drama, went through rigorous training, multiple look tests and more, before locking the final look for the film. Tamannaah Bhatia in KJo's next?
Actress Tamannaah Bhatia is currently on a successful streak down South. Her last Telugu Flick Oopiri received appreciation and has been declared super-hit. Last year, she was part of Baahubali: The Beginning and in 2016, we hear she is all set to work with Rohit Shetty in his next with Ranveer Singh and Prabhudeva’s next opposite Sonu Sood. Well, it looks like the actress is all set to make an impact this year as well.
If sources are to be believed, film maker Karan Johar has purchased the rights to remake the Hindi version of Oopiri. The film itself was a remake of the French film The Intouchables, which is about the camaraderie that develops between a wheelchair-bound billionaire and his male caregiver.
Incidentally, this is the second time Karan Johar has bought the rights of a movie which stars Tamannaah Bhatia in lead. Earlier Karan Johar’s Dharma Production was one of the crucial supporters of Baahubali: The Beginning. According to sources, Karan was highly impressed by Tamannaah’s performance in Oopiri and as the actress has performed well in the Telugu version, Johar's production house is considering to cast the beautiful actress in the Hindi remake as well.
Well if that turns out to be true, it would be interesting to know who will be paired opposite Tamannaah.

Shraddha kicks up a Storm
For the first time ever, Shraddha Kapoor gets into kick ass rebel mode. Ah! Don't worry. It's all for her character in the upcoming film, Baaghi. The actress is seen in a never before seen avatar, performing some dare devil stunts, action sequences et all. Interestingly, this makes Shraddha the first amongst her contemporaries to venture in action and learn full proof action techniques. The actress has three major action sequences in the film and is seen fighting it out with the tough guys! Majority of the fighting scenes involve hand to hand combat and basics of Kalaripayattu.
She trained rigorously for a month before she started shooting for the film, and would spend 6-7 hours a day to master the techniques correctly. Shraddha learnt hand to hand combat, kicking, punching and blocking for the high end action sequences in the film. She has performed all the action scenes by herself, without any harness and from what we hear, has done complete justice to her character. With a lot of hard work and effort that Shraddha has put in, her stunts ended up looking very authentic. After the trailer launch, she has received positive feedback for her action avatar from the audience.
Directed by Sabbir Khan, Baaghi is a rebellious love story produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.
Baaghi releases on April 29th and features Shraddha Kapoor with Tiger Shroff for the first time on screen.

Shahid Kapoor's Training for Rangoon
Plus, everything you wanted to know about the Arunachal Pradesh schedule
Shahid Kapoor, along with co-star Kangana Ranaut, director Vishal Bhardwaj and the entire unit of their upcoming film - Rangoon, just got back to the city after a gruelling three-week schedule. The Casablanca-like love story is set during the Second World War, and producer Sajid Nadiadwala, managed a coup of sorts by getting permission to shoot in virgin locales of Arunachal Pradesh where the Indo-Burma border was recreated. The crew was staying in a hotel in Rottung and while the locations are picture-perfect, the living conditions were at best spartan even for the stars. But, none of the actors complained, as they braced long drives to and between Pasighat, Rottung and Kibang. Some of these single journey drives would last eight-nine hours and would also include long treks through jungles. The shoot would begin at 4 am and the unit would pack up around 4-5 pm, once the light faded. Since there wasn't much to do except for work, everyone would be in bed by 8 pm.
Shahid Kapoor, who plays a soldier in the film, couldn't skip his workouts, as his physique needs to look a certain way for the action sequences. The actor adopted a tougher work out and was given a rigorous regime for by his trainer on request. He is following an army man's workout rigorously for strength training and muscle endurance, which includes a lot of activities like long runs, rope climbing, squats, deadlifts, pushups and pull-ups, among others.
The trainer has also allotted dumbbell swing and side bridge exercises for the actor and Shahid has been working very hard for it. He started this workout some days into the shoot of the film and spends at least an hour each day, apart from his regular workout session. Shahid, who is known to be a perfectionist, was completely immersed into the character. Rangoon is produced by filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala and stars Shahid Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut in lead roles. The film is all set to release on October 14, 2016.

Tiger and Shraddha talk about Love
Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor are ready to put on their dancing shoes and set to rock and roll together like never before for a new song from Baaghi titled - Let's talk about love. After the success of the romantic number Sab Tera, which was much loved - the highlight being Shraddha's soulful voice, the makers of Baaghi are ready with a dance number for the fans. Baaghi has been receiving tremendous response for its trailer, which features Tiger and Shraddha flaunting their action moves. Sajid Nadiadwala's Baaghi - Rebels for Love starring Tiger and Shraddha, will see the actors going against all odds for love. Directed by Sabbir Khan, the film is set to release on April 29th, 2016.

Emraan goes the Azhar way
Actor Emraan Hashmi, who will next be seen stepping into the shoes of ace ex-Indian cricket team captain - Mohd Azharuddin, in the film titled Azhar, seems to have picked up the cricketer's mannerisms, even off screen! The actor got so deeply involved with his character, that the cast and crew of the film, including director Tony D'Souza, and the actor's family, friends have been telling him that his mannerisms, even off the camera, bare an uncanny resemblance to that of the cricketer.
A source from the unit adds, "Azhar had a habit of bobbing/nodding his head while talking, and he also used to eat his food in a peculiar way. Emraan had picked up those traits while shooting for the film, but subconsciously, Emraan has picked up these traits off camera as well. In fact, he even shot a couple of videos imitating Azhar."
Tony D'Souza says," It was amusing to see Emraan and Azhar together, because they both kept nodding their heads in similar fashion, making the similarities far too obvious, even when we were not shooting." Azhar is based on the life and times of the controversial cricketer and will hit the screens this year!

Shahid Kapoor is known to be a director's actor. The actor leaves no stones unturned when it comes to his character in a film. Currently. the actor is experimenting with his looks for Vishal Bharadwaj's next, Rangoon, which is already on the floors. Kapoor's unique looks in his earlier films have garnered a lot of attention and appreciation. The actor is known to have completely surrendered to his directors vision in the past, and yet again, he is focusing on getting the right look for his next. He surprised everyone when he went bald for Haider. Currently, the actor is trying out various looks to see which one fits the bill and Vishal Bhardwaj has not given his nod to any particular look yet.
Earlier on, he had the full beard look and now, the excess beard has gone. Currently, he is seen sporting a rajputana moustache with short hair and we saw the actor taking this look to another level at designer Masaba's wedding last month. He will be changing his look several times (as required), before his director finalises the look for Rangoon. Set against the backdrop of the Second World War, Rangoon is a Casablanca-like love triangle, where Shahid will be playing an army officer. Rangoon is a dream that director Bhardwaj has been nurturing for the last seven years, making it his most ambitious film to date. The film is produced by film maker Sajid Nadiadwala and also features Shahid with Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut in lead roles.

This is what Aamir Khan has to say!
The actor responds to the social media outrage over his statement
We all know that Aamir Khan and his wife, Kiran Rao have been in the news since a few days, thanks to a statement given by Khan at a media gathering. Within minutes, social media was buzzing with outrage and Khan faced the wrath with several memes, jokes and whatsapp forwards cropping up overnight. Rude tweets and posts notwithstanding, Khan decided to come out and respond today. In an official statement given by the actor, Khan said that he has no intentions of leaving India. "Sab se pehle main ek baat saaf karna chahoonga, na mera, na meri patni ka, koi irada hai ye desh chhodney ka. Na humara aisa koi irada tha, na hai, aur na rahega. Jo koi bhi aise baat phailani ki koshish kar raha hai, usne ya to mera interview nahi dekha, ya jaan bhoojh ke ghalat faimi phelana cha raha hai. Bharat mera desh hai, main usse beinteha pyar karta goon, aur yahi meri sarzameen hai," stated Khan.
He further added that he will continue to stand by his views on intolerance brewing up in the country. He adds, "Doosri baat, interview Ke dauran jo bhi maine kaha hai, main uss pe atal hoon. Jo log mujhe desh drohi keh rahe hain unse main kahoonga, mujhe garv hai apne Hindustani hone pe, aur iss sachchayi ke liye mujhe na kissi ki ijaat ki zaroorat nahi, aur nahi kissi ke certificate ki. Jo log iss waqt mujhe bhaddi galiyan de rahe hain kyon ke maine apni dil ki baat kahi hai, unse main kehna chahoonga ke mujhe bada dukh hai ke mera kaha woh sach sabit kar rahe hain."
While making himself clear and responding back to all the hatred, Khan also thanked his supporters. The hashtag #IStandWithAamirKhan trended on the number 1 spot on Twitter yesterday. Khan says, "Aur, unn sare logon ka main shukriya adaa karna chahoonga jo aaj iss waqt mere saath khade hain. Humein humarey is kubsurat aur bemisaal desh ke khoobsurat charitra ko surakshit rakhna hai. Humein surakshit rakhna hai iss ki ekta ko, iss ki akhandata ko, iss ki vividhata ko, iss ki sabhyata aur sanskriti ko, iss ke itihaas ko, iss ke anekantavada ke vichaar ko, iss ki vividh bhashaoon ko, iss ke pyar ko, iss ki samvedansheelta ko, aur iss ke jazbaati takhat ko."
The statement ends with Khan talking about a famous poem by Tagore, which for him, is more like a prayer. He stated, "Anth mein, main Rabindranath Tagore ki ek kavita dohrana chahoonga. Kavita nahi balki ye ek prarthana hai."
Jahan udta phire mann bekhauf
aur sar ho shaan se utha hua,
Jahaan gyaan ho sabke liye beroktok bina shart rakha hua,
Jahaan ghar ki chaukat si chhoti sarhadon mein na bata ho jahaan,
Jahan sach ki gehraiyon se nikle har bayaan,
Jahaan baazuein bina thake lakeerein kuch mukamaal taraashein,
Jahaan sahi soch ko dhundla na paaye udaas murda rawayatein,
Jahan dilon dimaag talaashein naye khayaal aur unhe anjaam de,
Aise azaadi ke swarg mein, aye Bhagwaan, mere vatan ki ho nayi subah.

Shahid - Kangana - Saif starrer Rangoon kicks off Today
Everything you wanted to know about Rangoon, decoded here!
Vishal Bhardwaj has surprised Sajid Nadiadwala with a special gift on his 15th wedding anniversary. He kickstarts his most ambitious project, Rangoon, at Mumbai's Mehboob Studio today, followed by a shoot in the docks later in the afternoon. Sajid plans to reciprocate the gesture by mounting the dream his director has been nurturing for the last seven years on screen, in the scale it requires.
“It's a huge film and a difficult one. My executive producers will have sleepless nights for the next six months,“ Sajid says, pointing out that Rangoon is a Casablanca-like love story set against the backdrop of the Second World War.
“Growing up, I heard a lot of love stories in school which unfolded in Pearl Harbour and Paris in those trying times. I was fascinated by the idea of romance budding during a war. Some blossomed, some were abruptly cut short, but for me all of them were as memorable as the love triangle Vishalji narrated to me.Whenever we've met, we've discussed ideas, but this one grabbed me instantly.“
He goes on to point out that while Vishal's vision is daringly different, its casting - Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapor and Kangana Ranaut and the songs penned by Gulzar and scored by Vishal, makes Rangoon a commercially viable product. Sajid is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that it is an affair to remember. According to a source close to the production, 50 Japanese junior artistes have been flown down for the first schedule to correspond with the period and bring authentici ty to the project. Some British actors too are likely to join the cast later. Army barracks have been built at Mehboob Studio and props are being flown in from all over. Vishal regards Rangoon to be an eye-opener on a chapter of history that many of us are completely unaware of.
Vishal Bhardwaj, Sajid Nadiadwala and Shahid Kapoor share a smile, as they celebrate Nadiadwala's wedding anniversary and the Mahurat shot of Rangoon |
“If you visit a cemetery in Imphal, Manipur, you will see the graves of so many young soldiers who lost their lives in the Second World War. And the dark irony is that Indians were killing Indians because some of these soldiers fought for the British army against Subhash Chandra Bose's Indian National Army in Rangoon. It is my most expensive film to date and my most musical,“ he says.
Shahid Kapoor, who is an army officer and a gentleman, is growing a beard. Shahid has a definite look in the film which will be developed over the next month-and a-half. He will also be meeting army officers from that era to flesh out his character. Kangana plays a diva from the `40s who has been polishing up on her dancing and riding for the role. She's also cut her hair really short. Saif will be seen in his usual suave self but will polish up on his mannerisms. After this 10-day schedule, the unit is likely to move to the Burma border. Permission is currently being sought.
“We will be shooting intermittently till March end or early April after which the post production will start. With every film the idea is to push the envelope but with Rangoon we have to create and explore a new space. So we are yet to set a release date. For now, the focus is on love, war and all that lies in between,“ informed Nadiadwala. Sajid and Vishal are sure to leave no stone unturned to ensure that this is one of the most ambitious Indian movies that the world has ever seen. Vishal Bhardwaj's Rangoon, which is produced by filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala and features Shahid with Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut in lead roles.

This was not just a trailer launch, it was a trailer premiere and the set up lived up to that title in every sense. Here's how Shahid Kapoor is prepping for Rangoon
Trust Shahid Kapoor to get into the groove and give his all, in order to ace his character. The actor is not among those, who simply shy away from taking daredevil steps. Be it shaving off his head or turning tanned for a role, Shahid is a risk taker. The actor has been in the news for his looks since quite sometime and his decision to take up a dance based reality show as a judge only gave more happiness to his fans. Currently, Shahid is in great shape and has made a style statement with his current look. So, it does make him the most good looking celebrity judge on Indian television today. And these days, he is going the no-shave way since quite sometime. But its for the reason, and that's for his much anticipated project - Vishal Bhardwaj's Rangoon.
Set against the backdrop of the Second World War, this Casablanca-like love triangle has Shahid playing an army officer. The beard is integral to his look. The film also stars, Kangana Ranaut who plays an actress from the '40s, while Saif Ali Khan will be seen as a filmmaker. Rangoon is a dream Vishal has been nurturing for the last seven years and it is his most ambitious film to date. Shahid, who is known to be a 'method' actor, has been prepping for the character since months now.
One may recall how for his first film with Vishal - Kaminey - Shahid had to go shirtless and race with the horses in one scene. Since the character, Charlie, was lean, mean and a tough guy from the streets, the actor worked with his trainer for almost eight months, five days a week and two hours a day, for a chiselled physique and the run of a sprinter. Immediately, after the film's release, he went into a two-month overdrive to pack an eight-pack for his next musical. More recently, he shaved off his hair for a scene in Bhardwaj's Haider which required him to go bald, then grew it back, only to dye it red, for the upcoming Udta Punjab.
Shahid's spokesperson confirmed the news and stated that the beard is indeed for Rangoon."There was a lot of pressure on him to hold off growing it but he doesn't like paste-up jobs and wants to be ready with a beard of his own when the film rolls in October,“ adding “He's really excited about reuniting with Vishal again." Shahid is currently occupied with the promotions of his next outing, Shaandaar.

The creative maverick, along with choreographer Remo D’Souza, is leaving no stone unturned to make sure the song Deewani Mastani turns out to be one of the major highlights of the period drama and is being shot at the most extravagant and expensive set – Aaina Mahal recreated in Film city. Aaina Mahal is on the lines of the mirror-covered Mughal-E-Azam set and is the most expensive set so far after the cult film. Over 20,000 intricately designed mirrors have been used to put the set together. Special karigars from jaipur were summoned to work on the embedding of the mirrors to maintain authenticity. The massive set measures 12,500 sq feet .What's even more awe inspiring is that one angle of the frame reflects in the 20,000 mirrors. Speaking about the song, Remo says, “I'm really loving the way the song is shaping up. It's better than what we imagined.”

Shraddha is learning something new everyday!
After the huge success of Aashiqui 2, actress Shraddha Kapoor became the talk of B-town and since then, there has been no looking back for her. With back to back hit films in her kitty, it is also commendable how the actress has learnt a new element with each of her films. During the shoot of Ek Villain, Shraddha learnt how to ride a bike. In the song Galliyaan (and other scenes) the actress wanted to do the bike ride herself and not use any body double. The first look of Shraddha riding the bike also created immense buzz around the film and generated curiosity.
After turning biker girl, we saw Shraddha learning Urdu and turning into a Kashmiri avataar for her character in Haider! The actress ensured that she gets the Kashmiri dialect right and even crooned a few lines for a song in the film. Her last release, ABCD 2, saw Shraddha doing some crazy moves. For this film, the actress had to undergo training in various dance styles. The actress had worked rigorously, which ultimately resulted in the film dancing away happily into the 100 crore club.
And now, Shraddha will soon be seen in the Rock On sequel, which will have Farhan Akhtar in the lead. For this film, the actress is learning voice modulation and is also taking classes for same. It is also heard that she will be singing for the film. Well, Shraddha is one girl who believes in the motto - Learning never stops!

Sushant Singh Rajput's fanboy moment at Farah's Eid Party
Farah Khan's annual Eid party has always been the talk of the town. This year, Farah celebrated Eid with her close friends from the industry and treated them to delicious home cooked Eid specialities at her house. Sushant, who has been busy with the Dhoni biopic and doesn't make too many appearances, also attended this party .He gorged on the food much to Farah's delight. Jackie Shroff, who was also present at Farah's Eid party, couldn't stop praising Sushant's work and spoke to the Gen-x star about his choice of films, which Jackie felt were courageous and commendable.
Sushant was also spotted bonding with superstar Anil Kapoor over his fitness and workout regime. While Sushant was all praise for Anil Kapoor and his physique, Anil shared his fitness secrets and the two spoke at length about Kapoor's trainer, who he has been training with for years. The two were heard exchanging workout and diet tips.
But what really made this Eid party a special one for Sushant was the fact that he met his favorite actress, Tabu. It was a total fan boy moment for the actor, especially since Sushant is Tabu's biggest fan and was heartbroken when Tabu, who was offered a part in Detective Byomkesh Bakshi, couldn't be part of the film. Now you know, actors too have their fanboyish moments!
Apart from the above mentioned names, also present at the party were Arjun Kapoor, Sania Mirza, Sonu Sood, filmmakers Vikas Bahl and Anurag Kashyap, Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia , Shrishti and Sameer Arya, Sajid Khan, Chunky Pandey and Manoj Bajpayee.

Priyanka Chopra's Maharashtrian Connection
With the buzz around Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani touching an all time high, it is safe to say that the film is hands down one of the most awaited projects this year. People are curious to know more about the kind of sets designed for this magnum opus and were also excited to check out the on-screen avatars of the main cast - Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra. The first look was released today and needless to say, it left everybody spellbound, with fans waiting anxiously for the teaser trailer to come out tomorrow (we got an exclusive sneak peek of the same and honestly, we were mind blown).
Recently, a source close to the film informed us that the makers hired a traditional Maharasthrian clothing specialist for the film. The lady, based in Pune, was assigned the task of putting together the outfits for actress Priyanka Chopra, who plays Bajirao's wife - Kashibai - in the film. Acing the traditional Maharashtrian attire during the 1700s wasn't easy and required a lot of knowledge about the fabrics, jewelry and other important details. Since Kashi was a Peshwa's wife, she would naturally dress up in a lot of heavily embroided and rich sarees (including the nau-vaari and paithani), gold and pearl jewelry, including the traditional nath. Even PC was quite keen on having someone with knowledge about ethnic Maharashtrian clothing, as that would add more authenticity to her overall look. We have also heard that the lady would make sure that she converses with Priyanka in Marathi, in order to improve the latter's diction. We can't for the film already, folks. What about you?

"Playing Monty was tough" - Sidharth Malhotra
Karan Malhotra's much awaited remake of Warrior, titled Brothers, is all set to release next month. While the trailer has generated enough excitement and curiosity, one thing that can't go unnoticed is the way fans of actor Sidharth Malhotra have reacted to his avatar and character in the trailer. Post Student of the Year, Sid has managed to evolve himself as not just the boy next door, but also as an action hero, with a great performance in Ek Villain. This time, he is back on the screen as Monty, a street fighter who is into hardcore MMA (mixed martial arts). Sidharth admits that the journey of essaying the role of Monty was mentally exhausting for him.
The character needed him to have extreme levels of aggression, anger and frustration. Not only was that opposite from what the young Punjabi lad is like in reality, but things became challenging when he had to have a certain degree of resentment towards his onscreen family. Being a family person, Sid found it difficult to exhibit hatred towards his onscreen father and brother. "That was the toughest part of the job," stated Sidharth, further adding though it was extremely challenging, it was beautiful learning experience. According to sources close to the actor, the mental transition that he went through during the filming has helped him further to understand Monty as a character. He admits that as he continued shooting, overtime, Sid not only felt like Monty - the street fighter - physically, but also mentally.

Kareena's eco-friendly style connection
Kareena Kapoor Khan has always been a trendsetter in terms of the apparel and accessories she has sports onscreen. Her looks have always been in demand and the actress has always been admired by college going girls and teens for her style. But when it comes to her off-screen avatar, the actress has always preferred comfort over trends and is often seen sporting casual, low maintenance clothes, that she is most comfortable in.
Sources close to the actress reveal that Kareena has now taken up to eco-friendly fashion in a huge way. During her recent vacation in the Maldives, very few know that the actress was sporting eco-friendly creations that were made up of fabrics, that are not just comfortable but protects the environment as well. Of late, Kareena has been wearing and even encouraging friends and family to use apparel made up of fabrics like organic cotton, linen, hand-dyed fabrics, vegetable tanned leather, organic wool, tencel, recycled polyester among others. She believes that not only do they help the environment, but it also makes one feel comfortable and cooler, especially in the kind of climate that we experience in India. For the actress 'less is more' has always been the motto and while she does understand that she cannot always sport eco-friendly looks onscreen, she enjoys wearing them post work.

Kareena Kapoor Khan to go on a diet!
Yes! You heard that right. After making the world go into a tizzy with the size zero phenomenon during her Tashan days, Kareena Kapoor Khan is all set to opt for another diet. After soaking in the sun, sand and happiness at Maldives with husband Saif Ali Khan, sister-in-law Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Khemu, the actress is now back in action and all excited to get back to work. She has already kicked off promotions for her next opposite Salman Khan, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, and will soon start shooting for R.Balki's next with Arjun Kapoor.
But what really caught our attention is the fact that Bebo will be shooting for a grand commercial, which is for a brand that she endorses. Sources reveal that Kareena needs to sport a certain look for the ad and with little time on hand, the actress will go on a detox diet that involves liquids from all food groups to meet the body's requirements. She will be adopting a detox diet called the Martha Vineyard Detox Diet (which according to their official website claims to help an individual lose 21 pounds in 21 days). The diet is such that it aims at giving one's digestive system some rest, so that the body can fully focus on eliminating toxins.
Since she is someone who does not believe in crash diets, Kareena has strictly stated that in no way does she endorse or encourage strict diets as a way of life. But she will be following this particular diet for a week, before shooting for the commercial, in order to meet the requirements of the commercial's creatives. Post the shoot of this commercial, Kareena will resume her normal diet and does not plan on following it since she is a die-hard foodie. Well, we are looking forward to this commercial and her 'new' look already!

Deepika's highway tales on the sets of Piku
Now, we do see several actors of our generation driving their own cars and staying away from the elite 'chauffeur driven car' business, but actress Deepika Padukone had a unique experience while shooting for her upcoming film, Piku. The actress, who has been snapped quite a few times while driving her own car, was thrilled to drive a car on the highway while shooting for the film. After filming the driving sequence in Piku, the actress got excited. So much, that she actually started coming to the shoot minus her driver.

Shahid Kapoor experiments with his look for Udta Punjab
If you thought we are going to write about his personal life and be all gossipy with rumors, then you are wrong. We don't really believe in publishing reports that are not official. Well here, we are talking about Shahid Kapoor's love for experimenting with his looks for a film and this time, the actor has gone ahead and tried out 15 hair styles for his upcoming film, Udta Punjab. By now, we all know that Kapoor has seen various changes over the years and has been one of the few actors who doesn't shy away from experimenting with his looks for a character. And this time, we will see him in a new avatar in Udta Punjab.
The talented actor has been meeting stylists and hair dressers to zero in on the look that he will be sporting in the film. As mentioned above, Shahid has tried more than 15 looks. These hairstyles range from short hair to keeping it messy to tying a ponytail, which we recently saw him sporting on the runway at Kunal Rawal's showcase, where Shahid was the showstopper (and pray tell me, didn't he look fantastic?). He has also been trying combinations by coloring his hair, keeping a french beard among others. In addition, he has also been pumping iron at the gym to build muscle.
Apart from the experiments in the look department, Shahid has been extensively attending workshops for the film. He has been thoroughly reading the script and in fact, also admitted on a social networking site on how this would be one of his toughest roles ever. Good luck for this project, Shahid! Ace it.

Action sequences shot using Octocopter Drone in Baby
Bollywood is going the high-tech way. And why not? Our western counterparts are already doing it and its definitely a boon to see new-age Indian film-makers trying to experiment with technology. Most of this is done in order to shoot complicated action sequences, which are otherwise quite impossible to film using the conventional cameras. Akshay Kumar’s much anticipated Baby is one such film, where director Neeraj Pandey has tried new ways to filming action sequences.
With some help from Cyril Rafaeli, Hollywood's top action director (The Transporter, Hulk) who has worked on Baby, Neeraj has used the Octocopter Drone to capture fast-paced, large-scale action sequences across the deserts of Abu Dhabi. The Octocopter is a lot like the normal drone, but has advanced flexibility and payload capabilities.
Speaking on using this drone for Baby, Sudeep Chatterjee(DOP) stated,”Cutting-edge technology has expanded the imagination of film-makers today. Virtually impossible live-action sequences are now achievable, thanks to devices like the Octocopter. Neeraj and I knew that we wanted a particular sequence in the desert to look as real as possible, but the terrain did not permit the use of normal cameras. What we have achieved with the use of this drone was a revelation for all of us”.
Produced by T-Series, Baby is all set to hit the screens on 23rd Jan, 2015.

Star Wars – The Force Awakens teaser trailer unveiled!
(And we think it looks awesome)
An eighty-eight second long teaser trailer of J.J. Abrams’s much anticipated next installment in the Star Wars saga was released last night (Nov 28th) and needless to say, it took the internet by storm.
After months of speculation around director J.J. Abrams’ film, Disney and Lucasfilm finally revealed the teaser of the seventh entry of this blockbuster franchise online and in about 30 North American theaters. The energetic teaser, which has been watched nearly 6 million times on YouTube (and the count keeps going up as we write this post), blasts viewers with quick, disjointed images of classic and slightly altered “Star Wars” images, like TIE Fighters, X-Wings, droids and the Millennium Falcon.
The Force Awakens is the first of three new Star Wars films being produced by Walt Disney Co. since it purchased the franchise from Lucasfilm in 2012. The six previously released Star Wars films have grossed more than $4.4 billion at the worldwide box office since 1977 and spawned a legion of devoted fans. The Star Wars franchise has attracted generations of loyal fans ever since the first film arrived in 1977 recounting the adventures of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Darth Vader. Filming began in Britain in May on Episode VII – The Force Awakens.
Original cast members Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker will star in the new film, along with several newcomers including Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o. Earlier this month, Disney had revealed the name of the new episode and now we have got the teaser. Guess, the going will keep getting better. The film is slated for a December 2015 release and we think it is hands down one of the most anticipated releases (Oh! And we also think it will give some tough competition to Bollywood films releasing in the same month next year).

Divya Kumar signs Pulkit, Yami & Urvashi for her next directorial venture
After tasting success with this year's January release Yariyaan, actress turned director Divya Khosla Kumar has now announced the lead cast for her next, yet untitled film. While Pulkit Samrat will be seen as the male lead, Yami Gautam and Urvashi Rautela will be play the female leads in the film. During an earlier interview with Kumar, we were informed that while a sequel to Yariyaan will have to wait, there is another project that she might take up. Commenting on the announcement, Kumar said, “I have just finished penning the script and Bhushan (Kumar, MD, T-Series) has liked it. We both have mutually agreed on the cast. Pulkit and Yami fit the bill and for this project, I wanted actors who look slightly mature. Post the look test, we thought they were perfect for their respective roles.”
While talking about bagging this project, Pulkit stated, “I loved the way Divya treated her debut film. I am happy to be on board for this romantic film, which also happens to the first time I will be experimenting with a genre like mature love story. My co-star Yami is a great actress and I hope our pairing is accepted well by our audience.” Yami quips, "Bhushanji spoke to me about Divya's next film. I loved the role and story flow so much, that I knew I wanted to be a part of this film. Post some look tests and script narration sessions, I happily signed the dotted line. I really like my look and character in the film and I am very excited to working on this start the project."
Interestingly, both Pulkit and Yami are also working together in another T-Series production venture, Junooniyat, which will be shot this month. Akshay Kumar shoots in Abu Dhabi for Baby
Actor Akshay Kumar, who is quite well known for his love for adventure and action prowess, recently shot a mega action portion for his upcoming film, Baby. This chunk was shot in extremely tough conditions in the golden desert of Abu Dhabi.
Major portions of Baby, director Neeraj Pandey's next venture, have already been shot in Kathmandu and Istanbul, but the problems faced by the cast and crew in Abu Dhabi were insane. Burning sand dunes, hard heat winds and a temperature hovering in the fifties! While a large part of the unit was struggling to keep up with this tough terrain, one man seemed to behave like he was simply taking a jog in the park – Akshay Kumar. Yes, we know that the actor loves tough schedules and outdoor action and even in such tough conditions, Akshay was at his best. He co-operated with the portions choreographed by famous action director, Cyril Raffaelli.
A source from the production unit said, “It was extremely hot throughout the Abu Dhabi schedule and for a couple of days, the temperature almost touched 51 degree Celsius. Add to that, the fact that our shoot involved outdoor action and the conditions were really tough. We were all constantly running for shade and pouring cold water over our heads. However, while watching Akshay sir perform, it felt like he was unaffected and that we were just shooting under normal weather. He also lifted the morale of the unit and made everyone give their best. The man is made of another metal.” Producer Bhushan Kumar says, “It was commendable on Akshay's part and the entire team to shoot in the scorching heat of Abu Dhabi. Not even once did we hear the cast or crew members pulling out of the shoot or cancelling it. Hats off to Akshay and the entire team for being so professional.”
When quizzed, the Khiladi Kumar stated, "We have shot for Baby far and wide, from the wet and cold hilltops of Nepal, to the hectic and busy streets of Istanbul & Delhi. But it was the scorching heat of the Abu Dhabi desert that really took a toll on the team. We started setting up for our action portions before the sun would even rise, just in the hope of surviving a full day without severe dehydration kicking in. I don't really struggle in the heat, because I love the warmth in my bones, but the harsh conditions surely tested my endurance and strength to the fullest. The film's crew had the toughest time, for I am at least handed an umbrella every now & then. But hats off to Neeraj Pandey’s team, who like war troopers, kept pushing themselves to give their best under a hyperactive action choreographer, who never seemed to get tired." Further, he spoke about his experience of working with Cyril. "Working with him was an experience that I will never forget. Nothing seems impossible for him and I bounced off on his energy and enthusiasm to get the job done twice as fast. Post shoot, I actually got withdrawal symptoms as I enjoyed myself a little too much. Starting off at the crack of dawn, having an entire palace to ourselves, making the most of every minute and pushing ourselves to mental and physical limits, I have to admit, this was one of the most grueling yet memorable shoots of my life!"

Junooniyat to kick off in November
Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam's next titled Junooniyat is all set to kick off by the end of November. Pulkit portrays the role of an army officer in the film and to ace this part, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri wants him to spend five days in Mau before they start shooting on November 15th, in order to learn the body language and mannerisms of an army officer perfectly. Commenting on the role, Agnihotri stated," We are often blamed for the inappropriate portrayal of army officers in our films. So, I felt Pulkit should go there to understand the army officers’ way of life.”
November is certainly a special month for Pulkit, as not only will he start shooting for the film, but is also tying the knot with his long-time girlfriend, Shweta, at a ceremony in Goa on November 3. Keeping in mind the time that he will need, the actor will start preparing for the role almost immediately after his wedding. Happy New Year team visits Gaiety - Galaxy
While most actors believe in putting an end to promotional activities as soon as their films hit the screen, Shah Rukh Khan believes otherwise. After getting an overwhelming response at the box office in India and breaking all records to enter the 100 crore club in style, Khan was seen promoting Happy New Year with director Farah Khan, actors Sonu Sood, Boman Irani and Vivaan Shah at the popular G7 chain of cinemas in Bandra.
It was nice to see SRK promote the film with tons of zest, despite the fact that he was suffering from a cold and fever. After posing for the fans, Team HNY also interacted with audience and followed it up with a media interaction at the theater.

Happy New Year 'Sharabi' launch
The cast and crew of Happy New Year got together to launch the promotional video of the song, Sharabi, at a gala event held at Enigma, JW Marriott in Mumbai on October 28. While Deepika Padukone had given the game success event on Monday a miss, it was Abhishek Bachchan who missed the rocking evening this time.
Sticking to their "every appearance should be a fashionable one" mantra, members of the cast comprising of Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood, Vivaan Shah and director Farah Khan, were seen putting their best fashion foot forward. Padukone looked gorgeous in a Pankaj & Nidhi outfit, while Khan was dapper as ever in a black suit. Here's the brilliantly choreographed (with simple yet quirky steps) video feat the HNY cast. Trust Ganesh Hegde to get the perfect sets and steps together, in order to create some unique magic. Both Manj and Nindy Kaur have sung this number with great zest.
